-
- This is an improved version of KBOS for FS5.1 designed by Yves
- Trepanier. This project was build on top of the New York Area
- default scenery. The runways are not included in my BGL files
- and I have not included a synthetic floor. No attempt was made to
- improve on the surrounding scenery. My original intention was
- to add only taxiways and terminals.
-
- INSTALLATION:
-
- 1. Move the *.BGL files to your \FS51\...\KBOS\SCENERY directory
-
- 2. Move all *.R8 files to your \FS51\...\KBOS\TEXTURE directory
-
- 3. Other files include:
- KBOS.PCX a general view of Boston Logan Intl Airport
- BOS_GT35.PCX a Noble Air parked at Gate 35
- BOS_PHL1.STN a situation file for FS5.1, at Gate 3. Place
- this one in your \FS51\PILOTS directory
-
- 4. In FS5.1 Scenery Library, KBOS may be installed after all
- default sceneries and all CD-ROM entries. I have not found any
- conflict nor have I encountered any DATABASE ERROR. Since the
- airport resides within the default New York area, it has never sat
- above the default runways, which I borrowed in this project.
-
- 5. From the WORLD Airport directory, you will find KBOS under New
- York Area. There, you will be able to place your aircraft at
- the end of one or the other runway. I have also included
- additional positions under "Boston Logan" for each of the four
- respective gates.
-
- The details of the scenery are as follows:
-
- 1. Boston Logan Airport is a busy hub on the East Coast of the
- United States with four active runways. As with many scenery
- designers, we often get tired of parking our planes on the grass
- of our favourite airports. The initial purpose was to add
- taxiways and terminals. I have also included a KBOS landmark by
- way of the ATC twin tower structure which rises some 275 feet
- (85 meters) above the parking apron. A low level night flight
- towards the ATC tower will allow to discover other features.
-
- 2. As I am a regular pilot of simulated Noble Airlines, Boston Hub,
- I needed to add more realism to my frequent departures and
- arrivals at Logan. I am therefore dedicating this scenery file
- firstly to the Noble Air pilots and all frequent flyers to and
- from this airport.
-
- 3. Following intense negotiations with MassPort Authority, Noble
- Air have been able to negotiate a gates swap with Delta
- Airlines. As a results, Noble has acquired gates 3, 11 and 15
- in Pier B of Terminal C. Henceforth, all Noble flights will
- depart and arrive from these three gates, for which gate
- passerelles are provided, thanks to the courtesy and
- contribution of David Jarinko who kindly supplied the codes for
- their design. With the help of Stuart White, I have since been
- able to include texture files to show the Noble Leo Logo and gate
- numbers. Gate 35 (without the Noble Leo) has been added to Pier C
- of Terminal C for all pilots of other airlines and non scheduled flights.
-
- 4. With such a large airport, I thought that simulated pilots would
- appreciate some guidance upon landing in order to lead their
- plane to the three Noble Air gates. From the runway, take the
- first taxiway and proceed towards the main parking apron area. Then
- just follow the yellow line and it will lead you to your arrival
- gate. As in the RDU scenery, I have also included an alignment
- mechanism consisting of a green square in front of a red one.
- Align both (left and right) and you will be on target for arrival
- at the gate. All gates are illuminated at night.
-
- 5. The taxiways, buildings and the ATC twin tower are my own
- design, using BGLTOOLS from Hiroo Umeno, and the documentation
- provided by Olivier Briot. I got assistance from many, and I am
- pleased to give them recognition, hoping I will not offend those I
- may be omitting unwillingly:
-
- Miguel Hermanns 76642,2213 Scenery assistance
- Dave Jarinko 75301,1104 Design for Jet Gates
- John M. Keane 74647,274 Scenery assistance
- Dave Phipps 75212,1122 ILS for KBOS
- John Trindle 70303,3506 ILS's for KBOS
- Stuart White 100351,3216 See below
-
-
- 6. Regular pilots, mainly from Europe will recognize the
- contribution from Stuart White. He provided me with the radar
- (rotary), the GlidePath structures, and for those who will dare
- to look, the VOR building at Gardner - (GDM - 110.60), at 47.5
- miles north of KBOS, approximately 290d from Gate 3. Stuart uses
- SCASM as a compiler.
-
- 7. There are no NAV, VOR, ADF included, as they form part of FS5.1
- default New York area scenery provided by Microsoft. However,
- ILS's are not provided by Microsoft. Following an idea from David Phipps,
- I have included them (using BGLGEN by Enno Borgsteede and NAVUTIL
- from Claus Munk) for your enjoyment and to help you in your final
- approaches in hazy and foggy weather, which often happens in KBOS.
- These are provided to you courtesy of John Trindle, who allowed to
- use his codes, including OMIs. Details are as follows:

- 04R I-BOS 110.30 36d
- 22L I-LQN 110.30 216d
